Meet Our Dental Assistants
The dental assistants aid Dr. Christy and Dr. Balsis chairside, helping procedures run smoothly and patients are as comfortable as possible.
Berrien Springs Location
Natalija – Dental Assistant
Natalija attended Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor where she received extensive classroom and chairside dental assistant training. After successfully completing this challenging program, she was awarded an Associate of Applied Science. With over 8 years of dental assisting under her belt, Natalija knows how to provide personalized care to our valued patients.
Her current certifications include CDA (Certified Dental Assistant), RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) and EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant).
Natalija is a busy mother of two growing boys. In her spare time, she enjoys walking and reading. A lifelong learner, Natalija continues to remain abreast of advances in dental care and improve her craft every day.
Heather – Dental Assistant
Heather, one of our dental assistants, graduated with honors from the Lake Michigan College Dental Assisting program. She has 24 years of experience in the dental field and joined Berrien Dental in 2014. Her current certifications include CDA (Certified Dental Assistant), RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) and EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant). Heather has front desk experience and has also worked in the Oral Surgery field.
She assists chair side with both dentists, makes temporary crowns and bridges and assists during fillings, crown preps and other procedures that need to be done.
Heather lives in Benton Harbor with her boyfriend, who has three grown children. She enjoys helping patients improve their smile so they feel better about their appearance. Her patients tell her that they enjoy her because she is very gentle and makes them feel comfortable.
Lori – Dental Assistant
Lori, is one of our Registered Dental Assistants. She has been in the dental field since 1997 after receiving her RDA, CDA and EFDA certificates at Lake Michigan College. Lori came to Berrien Dental after graduation and has been with us ever since.
Her duties include assisting the dentists, caring for patients, keeping on schedule and keeping track of inventory.
Lori has two children that keep her busy. Lori says what she most enjoys about working in the dental field is, “Making people happy about their smile and sharing information on dental health with them.” Patients say that Lori gets the job done and shares knowledge with them about their dental care.
Carole – Dental Assistant
Carole has a very specific and important job—she assists the doctors. She started in the dental field in 2000 and has been with Berrien Dental since 2010. Carole completed Dental Assisting program at Lake Michigan Community College. She holds RDA, CDA and EFDA certificates.
She is married and has three children. She most enjoys seeing patients smile and they are happy that Carole explains procedures to them.
St. Joseph Location
Heather – Dental Assistant
Heather, one of our dental assistants, graduated with honors from the Lake Michigan College Dental Assisting program. She joined Berrien Dental in 2014, coming to us with over twenty years of previous experience.
Her duties include assisting both dentists, making temporary crowns and bridges and assisting during fillings, crown preparations and other procedures.
Currently, Heather lives in Benton Harbor with her boyfriend who has three grown children. She enjoys helping patients improve their smiles and increase their confidence. She is often told that she is gentle and makes patients feel at ease during procedures.
Nancy – Dental Assistant
Nancy has been with Berrien Dental since 2014, although she has worked in the dental field for many years. Presently, she serves on the advisory board for the Dental Assisting Program at Lake Michigan College.
With the exception of living in New York for a few years, Nancy has lived in Saint Joseph her whole life. She has two adult sons and six grandchildren. When asked what she enjoys most about working in the dental field, she stated, “I enjoy helping people get healthy, happy and comfortable with their smiles.”
Nancy is always a friendly face you can rely on, making her patients feel relaxed and comfortable.
